Hey – my name is Lee Man, and I am a guy who really adores food.
Why? I think food is the last bit of real craftsmanship that we encounter everyday.
Most of our clothes come from overseas, our furniture is flat packed for self assembly, and our appliances seem designed to fail. But food – both home cooking and restaurant food – well, that’s made by an actual somebody, just steps away as we wait for our meals to arrive. When that food is made with care, attention to detail and, I know this sounds cliche, love – it’s such a beautiful every day miracle.
I am also a Founding Judge for the Chinese Restaurant Awards, and a contributor to Vancouver Magazine and Judge for the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards. I generally avoid sponsored eats and events – but that’s because I am most happy being a good customer. People are working their asses off, and putting their livelihoods on the line – and I like paying for that effort and passion.
Also – I like keeping a low profile… and I think of this blog as mostly a personal food and photography diary. So if you stumble upon this site, and happen to like it – well, that’s just an awesome bonus.
